How it's calculated
The tool above does this automatically, but here's the logic behind both directions:
Current % = (Classes Attended ÷ Classes Held) × 100
Max classes you can skip = (Attended + Remaining) − (Required% × (Held + Remaining))
Classes you must attend in a row = ((Required% × Held) − Attended) ÷ (1 − Required%)
The first formula applies when you're already at or above your required percentage — it tells you how much room you have to skip. The second applies when you're below it — it tells you how many classes in a row you need to attend to climb back up.
How to use it
STEP 1
Check your attendance record
Get your classes attended and classes held numbers from your college portal or attendance sheet.
STEP 2
Add remaining classes
Estimate how many classes are left in the term — check your timetable and academic calendar if you're not sure.
STEP 3
Read your result
You'll see either how many classes you can safely skip, or how many you need to attend in a row to recover.
Frequently asked questions
How is attendance percentage calculated?
Classes attended divided by classes held so far, multiplied by 100.
How many classes can I skip and still keep 75%?
It depends on your current numbers and how many classes remain — the calculator finds the largest number of remaining classes you can miss while still finishing at or above 75%.
What if I'm already below 75%?
The calculator shows how many upcoming classes you'd need to attend in a row to climb back up, and tells you if that's not possible with the classes you have left.
Does every college require exactly 75%?
No — it varies by institution and sometimes by course. Change the "Required Attendance %" field to match your own college's policy.
