About YouTube Thumbnail Grabber

Last updated: July 28, 2026

What we do

YouTube Thumbnail Grabber is a free browser tool that lets you preview and download the thumbnail image attached to any public YouTube video. Paste a video link, and we show you every resolution YouTube generated for it — from a small 120×90 preview up to the full HD master image — so you can save the size you need.

Why we built it

Grabbing a thumbnail off YouTube usually means digging through browser dev tools or guessing at a URL format. We built this so anyone — creators comparing styles, designers pulling references, writers who need a preview image for an article — can get the image in a couple of clicks instead.

How it works

When you paste a link, we read the video ID from it and request the thumbnail directly from YouTube's own public image servers (img.youtube.com). We don't re-host, recompress, or store the image ourselves — what you see and download is the file YouTube already serves publicly.

What we're not

YouTube Thumbnail Grabber is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google LLC. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC. Thumbnail images remain the property of the respective video owner or channel — see our Terms of Use for more on that.
